Join us for a celebratory festival filled with traditional Japanese entertainment from the Japanese Culture Center. Throughout the day, enjoy cultural activities, Japanese food vendors, ikebana flower arrangement demonstrations by the Ohara School of Ikebana, and a variety of hands-on workshops, including woodblock printmaking, origami and shodō calligraphy.

  • 12:00 - Tsukasa Taiko (Japanese Drumming)

  • 12:30 - Odori (lively Japanese folk or theater dance characterized by rapid footwork)

  • 1:00 - Shamisen (Traditional three-string instrument)

  • 1:30 - Shotokan Karate by JKA Chicago

  • 2:00 - Aikido by the Aikido Association of America

  • 2:30 - Kendo by Chicago Kendo Dojo

  • 3:00 - Large Brush Shodō by award-winning master Hekiun Oda Shihan (Genshinkai)

  • 4:30 - Shamisen (Traditional three-string instrument)

  • 5:00 - Odori (lively Japanese folk or theater dance characterized by rapid footwork)

  • 5:30 - Tsukasa Taiko (Japanese Drumming)
